THE PRAISE NOTICE BOARD
FROM SUNDAY 27 JANUARY 2019
AND BEYOND
(LOOK OUT FOR DATES FOR YOUR DIARY TOO!)
==========================================
All editions of PRAISE are available as podcasts - you can subscribe for free on iTunes, Google Podcasts or Spotify, or via the Manx Radio Smartphone App, or at manxradio.com - and the programmes remain available indefinitely.
ON PRAISE TODAY - 27 JANUARY 2019
On Holocaust Memorial Day each year, the Holocaust Memorial Trust encourages us to listen to stories on a particular theme - this year it is ‘Torn from Home’ the tragedy of young children sent to other countries - torn from families which in many cases they never saw again. Even if they WERE eventually reunited, they were often so damaged by their experiences that home and family could never really be re-built
On PRAISE today we listen to stories of some children who survived despite great suffering.
The National Holocaust Memorial Service
will be held this afternoon
(27 January) at 3pm
in St Mary of the Isle Roman Catholic Church,
Hill Street, Douglas
All are welcome
Refreshments will be served afterwards
LIVE STREAMING
of all services in St Mary’s
is available via the website
From the main menu select LIVE STREAM
On the ‘live stream’ screen there’s also
a schedule of regular services in St Mary’s,
so you can plan to share in a Mass in this way
And in our ‘From The Archives’ feature
popular historian Frank Cowin
sketches out the origins of the
Methodist Church on the Island,
and recalls some spectacularly successful youth work!
Music on PRAISE today is
Praise to the Lord, the Almighty (Joachim Neander)
sung by the Choir of Kings College, Cambridge
and music from the soundtrack
of the film Schindler’s List
And just in case you need it …..
On PRAISE on Sunday 13 January
Reverend Steve Ingrouille
(Methodist Minister based in Onchan, Isle of Man)
talked about the pilgrimage he’s organising to the Holy Land from 29 October to 7 November 2019
If you’d like to discuss this with Steve, he can be contacted on 01624 674 464
AND IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO MEET
Rev’d Steve and some of those who went on the Spring 2018 pilgrimage, they will be at Trinity Methodist Church at Rosemount in Douglas on Tuesday 29th January. Rev’d Steve will be talking about the pilgrimage experience and will be happy to answer any questions. It’s an open meeting with light refreshments, and a warm welcome for anyone who’d like to hear more about making a pilgrimage to the Holy Land.
A full colour brochure describing this year’s pilgrimage is available, either by phoning 01624 674 464
or a pdf of the brochure can be emailed to you
via Manx Radio

THE ISLAND SPIRITUALITY NETWORK
MEETS AGAIN ON
SATURDAY 9 FEBRUARY

We look forward to welcoming our guest speaker, Rt Reverend Peter Eagles, Bishop of Sodor and Man. His chosen topic is Female mystics – the achievements of monasticism and the insights of great women
There is no set charge for ISN meetings though a suggested voluntary donation of £10 helps to defray our expenses. However, no one is EVER asked for money (we just provide a basket at the back of the room, for anyone to place a donation if they wish) so please DO NOT stay away for financial reasons. What better way to spend a Saturday morning than to gather together, sharing, reflecting and learning from one another.
