Brewery narrowly misses coveted prize
A local ale has walked away with a nomination for the 'most coveted title' in British beer.
Okell's Manx Pale Ale (MPA) variety was among the finalists in the Champion Beer category at the 40th annual Great British Beer Festival, held in London last week.
CAMRA judges blind tasted more than 900 bitters, milds and ales from around the British Isles to come up with the list of the finest on offer.
Though it fell just short of a gong, Okell's brewer-in-chief Dr Mike Cowbourne called the recognition for MPA a 'huge achievement'.
Owners Heron & Brearley said it 'serves to reinforce Okell's reputation for quality, innovation and great pride'.
