Planning application also includes a display with the nose of a retired aircraft
A bronze memorial statue and a display including the nose of a plane could be added to the Manx Aviation and Military Museum - if it gets planning permission.
It says the nose section will also form an exhibit in its own right while replacing deteriorated timber cladding on the covered walkway.
Meanwhile the bronze sculpture, with the working title of 'The Angel of Ronaldsway' is hoped to serve as a memorial to aviators who have left the airfields of the Isle of Man, never to be seen again.
This is an artist's impression of what it will look like on the site:

The Ballasalla museum's application is currently in the consultation stage before a decision will be made on its future.
