Celtic Congress gathers in Mann

Nations meet to share views and culture

Delegates from five Celtic nations are gathering in the Island for a four day cultural get-together.

The Island branch of the Celtic Congress is hosting the annual event at the Empress Hotel in Douglas which will be officially opened this evening by the President of Tynwald Clare Christian (31 March).

Delegates from Ireland, Scotland, Wales and Cornwall will join their Manx colleagues for a packed programme of lectures, discussions, visits, films and concerts.

This year's theme is The Inclusion of Celtic History and Culture in the School Curriculum - a topic each country will offer views on.

The delegates will tour Castletown, Cregneash, Tynwald and an MER workshop during their stay, entertained each evening by Celtic musicians and singers.

The Congress meets from tonight (31 March) until Sunday, there's a £5 admission charge and entry is free for students.
