Company denies health and safety failings after bike crash

Biker suffered serious leg injuries

A Foxdale company has been accused of health and safety failings that allegedly contributed to a motorbike crash on the TT course.

Christopher Preston, a director of Roots to Shoots Ltd of Ballamoar Farm, stood for the company at Douglas Courthouse.

The company denies failing to discharge its health and safety duties and breaching general health and safety regulations.

The court was told the company had been doing work at Glen Helen, on behalf of the Department of Environment, Food and Agriculture, in June.

A biker crashed into the back of traffic, at traffic controls set up by company workers, leaving the motorcyclist with serious leg injuries.

It’s alleged signs warning motorists about the work were set up almost 150 metres away when they should have been at 275 metres.

The hearing was told workers refused to speak to health and safety investigators after the incident.

The case was adjourned until a pre-trial hearing on 15 February.
