DEFA refuses to rule out Meat Plant closure

A number of options being looked at

The department of environment, food and agriculture says it hasn't ruled out closing down the Island's Meat Plant.

A steering committee tasked with finding a solution to the lack of efficiency at the Tromode facility has narrowed it down to four options.

Adding a retail and butchery has been mooted, as has identifying a private operator for the site.

Departmental member Tim Baker says DEFA has to keep an open mind:
