Drug driving charge dropped

Insufficient evidence to pursue case against Peel teenager

A court’s heard a teenager told police he’d been smoking cannabis before getting behind the wheel of his car.

Nineteen-year-old Christopher Moore of Fenella Terrace in Peel appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas courthouse.

He’d been facing a charge of drug driving at Quarterbridge in Douglas on 14 March, but prosecution advocate Roger Kane withdrew the charge, telling the court there was insufficient evidence to prove Mr Moore’s driving had been impaired by the drug.

Mrs Hughes marked the charge as withdrawn and awarded defence costs of £496.
