£1.6m of taxpayers' money to be spent on project
A £1.6 million upgrade of sound and lighting equipment at two government-owned entertainment venues on the Isle of Man has officially begun.
The three-phase project will also update the rigging and improve the acoustics at the Villa Marina and Gaiety Theatre.
The two venues were last updated technologically with sound equipment in 2004 and 1996 respectively.
It’s claimed the new technology will reduce power consumption at the venues by around 50 percent.
Work is expected to be completed by February 2026; you can find out more HERE.
