Beecroft's efforts roundly defeated
Another attempt to implement an independent health regulator for the Island has been quashed by the House of Keys.
South Douglas MHK Kate Beecroft requested leave for a Private Members Bill in yesterday's sitting (Tuesday).
But it was defeated by a wide margin - with many members arguing the cost would be too high.
Health Minister Howard Quayle admitted he was open to the idea, but believed the timing wasn't right.
He said the idea could be revisited after a review of the DHSS by the West Midlands Quality Review Service concludes.
But Mrs Beecroft said the time for action is now:
Figures show cost of works at Ramsey and District Cottage Hospital
Douglas Councillor urging social housing tenants to fill out income eligibility consultation
Creamery working to solve the mystery of tight screw caps on cartons
Young people's bereavement drop in service coming to an end
