Noble's staff overhaul will save £500k, says Director of Hospital Services

The Director of Hospital Services says the ongoing managerial restructuring at Noble's Hospital will save the Health Department half a million pounds each year.

Mike Quinn gave evidence yesterday (Wed 9), to a Tynwald Committee investigating the Department's repeated budget overspend - to the tune of more than £30million in the past three years.

Some members of senior management at Noble's have accepted voluntary redundancies under the 'Mutually Agreed Resignation Scheme', or 'MARS' recently, including the Chief Nurse, Deputy Chief Nurse and Deputy Theatre Manager.

The Royal College of Nursing Union has previously raised concerns about the effects this might have, although Noble's insists the cuts are only in management, and not frontline services.
