Last sitting of Tynwald for 2018

Report on PO Board and Select Committee report on PSM discussed

For the final time this year, Tynwald assembles this morning (Tues 11) at Legislative Buildings in Douglas.

Members could be engrossed for a good while - with a packed schedule in store for the court.

As well as 47 items on the question paper for both oral and written answer, there's a range of business to be seen to on this sitting's order paper.

Among the items to be laid before the court are alterations to the Equality Act 2017, an amendment to the definition of "relevant photographic identification" for marshals at road racing events, and new, restrictive measures against the proliferation and use of chemical weapons.

Another order concerns making changes to rates of excise duties placed on tobacco products, to bring Manx legislation in line with changes to the corresponding law in the UK, which was introduced during the British Budget on 29 October of this year.

There's also a report of the Isle of Man Post Office Board's strategic recommendations, which require Tynwald approval.

Last but not least, Chair of the Select Committee on Public Service Media Dr Alex Allinson will move that Tynwald receives his committee's interim and second reports, and approves eleven recommendations, most of which concern Manx Radio.

You can see the order paper and question paper in full on the Tynwald.org.im website.

And you can listen in to the sitting live from 10:30am, online at manxradio.com via the AM player, on the smartphone app, or on AM1368.
