Sixteen-year-old pushed to ground in front of onlookers
A court’s heard a Douglas man pushed his teenaged girlfriend to the ground in front of horrified witnesses.
Twenty-two-year-old Tyler Jack Snape of Willaston Crescent appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse via a live video link.
He denies assaulting the 16-year-old on 19 August on Princes Road in Douglas.
Prosecution advocate Roger Kane told the hearing police were called to Princes Road by members of the public who’d seen Mr Snape push the girl in the chest.
Officers searched the area around Lower Dukes Road and saw Mr Snape and the girl in Laureston Terrace but both ran off.
Police later went to his home, and arrested him – the court heard he’s said to have deliberately smashed his head against the inside of the van and needed hospital treatment.
He was bailed in the sum of £500 on condition he lives at Tromode House in Braddan, doesn’t contact witnesses or his alleged victim, and doesn’t leave the Isle of Man without the court’s permission.
He’s due to appear in court again for his trial on 6 January.
