Police found weapons in Land Rover
A Douglas man who had an imitation firearm and knives in his car will stand trial at the Court of General Gaol Delivery.
Twenty-nine-year-old Daniel Sydney Andrews of Tynwald Street appeared before magistrates at Douglas courthouse.
He’s pleaded not guilty to possessing knives and an imitation firearm as well as theft, handling stolen goods, resisting police officers and going equipped to steal.
Prosecution advocate Barry Swain said the painter and decorator’s Land Rover was stopped by police in St Marks when they discovered the items.
Mr Swain said two lock knives were found along with a BB gun that looked like a Glock pistol.
Mr Andrews said his car was full of his possessions after he was evicted from his flat and had been living in the vehicle.
However, the hearing was told he'd become extremely aggressive when questioned by police – who had to use incapacitant spray on him.
Magistrates said the case was too serious for them to hear and granted bail in the sum of £500.
Mr Andrews will appear in court again for committal proceedings on 12 December.
