Manx conference to celebrate diversity

Vision for Island as 'beacon of inclusion'

Organisers of a major conference on diversity and inclusion later this month, say it will be a landmark event for the Isle of Man.

Leaders from a wide range of organisations including schools, the police force and local companies are due to attend the inaugural Intentional Diversity Conference at the Villa Marina on 22 March.

A speaker line-up of policy advisers from UK groups and firms such as the British Council, major UK banks and ITV, will call on employers to accept, respect and understand diversity.

Their message: in today's global business community, if you overlook diversity, you overlook a pool of talent which could help your company grow.

The man behind the conference is Jean-Paul Nguegang, who works for an Island financial services firm and runs an ethnic minority network.

He also set up the Global Community and Sport Foundation, the company behind the conference.

Those wishing to attend are asked to register at www.idc.co.im or for more information, phone the hotline 0845 2993824.

Mr Nguegang says with an equality bill and same sex marriage laws in the pipeline, this is an interesting time to stage a diversity debate on the Island:
