Money 'should be in pockets of hard-pressed local families'
An MHK has questioned why ‘local people with ordinary lives’ are being expected to contribute even more to government coffers.
Jason Moorhouse has told Tynwald today’s Budget ‘whiffs’ of a challenge to survive saying government is ‘treading water’.
He’s criticised Treasury’s claims that the Island will continue to offer competitive rates of Income Tax to higher earners at the same time as putting up the higher rate for everyone to 22 percent:
Mr Moorhouse added the impact of unchanged personal allowances should not be underestimated for those who are ‘just about managing’ and the ‘squeezed middle'.
And he’s questioned why the public is paying for such a large government headcount:
