Onchan bank to be redeveloped

Only one commissioner supported the plan

Plans to revamp a former bank in Onchan are going ahead - six months after commissioners rejected the idea.

The proposals for a restaurant, four flats and two commercial units in the Isle of Man Bank building on Main Road have gained planning approval, with work already underway.

The local authority's concerns over parking were overturned by planners.

Onchan Commissioner, James Cherry, who supported the plans all along, says he's glad to see more development in the village:
