Online advice to beat the tax deadline

 

One in five people are now completing their tax returns online – and the government says the countdown’s on for this year’s deadline.

 

If your form isn’t back with the taxman by October 6, you could face a £100 penalty rising to £200 by next April.

 

Gerrard Higgins of the income tax division says anyone who needs help can get in touch with staff, but the office always faces a last-minute rush.
