PO chairman says strike vote is 'regrettable'

Management at the Isle of Man Post Office are maintaining their stance and message, after staff thereĀ decided to strikeĀ over a pay claim.

Eighty-four per cent of the members of the Communication Workers' Union who voted backed industrial action, following a pay freeze this year.

Post Office chairman Alan Crowe MLC says he and his colleagues are saddened by the outcome of the ballot.

He is still urging the staff not to stage a walkout and is again claiming it would put jobs at risk if they did so.

Mr Crowe says the Post Office welcomes the CWU's comment today (Wednesday) that the ballot result should be used to focus all parties on solutions, rather than strikes.
