Politicians invited to meet with Israeli humanitarian group

Palestine Red Crescent

MDA - helping lead response to emergency - says it won't explicitly ask for financial aid

Politicians on the Isle of Man are being invited to learn more about the ongoing conflict in Israel and Gaza.

Israel’s national medical emergency service - the humanitarian group Magen David Adom - will also meet with the Jewish community during a trip to the Island.

The group describes itself as ‘neutral’ and ‘impartial’.

Manx Radio's Christian Jones spoke to MDA Consultant Steven Jaffe:

The Red Cross says since 7 October, more than 4,000 people have reportedly been killed in Israel, the West Bank and Gaza, with thousands more injured due to the escalating conflict.

The United Nations believes more than one million people have been displaced from their homes in the Gaza Strip and over 200 people have reportedly been taken as hostages from southern Israel.

Staff and volunteers from Magen David Adom, Palestine Red Crescent Society and the International Committee of the Red Cross were already on the ground when the violence broke out and have been leading the response to the emergency.
