Private Patients Unit to close on January 7th

DHSC confirms start date for suspension

The Department of Health and Social Care has revealed when the temporary suspension of private medical treatment will come into force.

On 7 January, 2019, the Private Patients' Unit at Noble's Hospital will close, putting a hold on private operations, in-patient and day case treatment.

It's due to the review and upgrade of the PPU, and aims to ensure the hospital's facilities compare well with private units in the UK.

Once upgraded, a new private healthcare system will be in place, better able to meet the needs of people who wish to use it.

The closure was announced by Health and Social Care Minister David Ashford in October, allowing enough time for previously booked procedures to be carried out.

Private consultations at Noble's will continue, either in clinical rooms or elsewhere in the hospital.
