'Rate of spread is in public's hands', says Chief Medical Director

Daily update by Dr Rosalind Ranson

The Island's Chief Medical Director says the rate of spread of Covid-19 is completely in the hands of the public.

Dr Rosalind Ranson has been giving daily updates to the public on the pandemic.

Today's message reads:

‘It is possible for us to avoid what we are seeing in other countries, because our Government took action early.

It's the behaviour of the public that is crucial.

In the next days and weeks, we will start to see the emergence of the infection. There will be people that already have the virus but will be feeling fine.

That is why staying at home is so vital so that we do not spread the virus any further.

If you need to go out for essentials, then social distancing must be maintained.'
