Snow causes problems on Island

Snow has been causing problems across the Island today - though perhaps not as badly as originally thought.

The west and the north has seen the worst of the weather, with drifting across higher roads causing problems.

A number of flights have been cancelled through the day, though this has been down to problems on the UK side where the snow has generally been much worse.

There have been two school closures and a number of road closures.

The Mountain Road has been closed throughout the afternoon and will remain closed over night.

Still closed is the Injebreck Road from West Baldwin Reservoir to Brandywell Cottage and the Brandywell Road from Be-garrow crossroads to Brandywell Corner is closed until at least 11pm. The same applies to the Druidale Road.

The Sloc/Shoulder Road from Ballakillowey housing estate in Rushen to the Foxdale Road in Malew is closed until 10pm.

In the Cronk-y-Voddy and the Kirk Michael area there's been a slight covering of snow which was being treated this evening by the DOI

The Met Office say the weather is likely to stay very cold and windy, with snow over higher ground.
