An MHK is voicing concern about an apparent lack of interest in standing for local authority boards.
Garff member and Speaker of the House of Keys, Steve Rodan, made his comments after Tynwald was asked to approve the reduction of Laxey Commissioners from seven to five.
This year's elections are on April 24th.
Mr Rodan (pictured) says attracting candidates is an Island-wide problem.
He believes amalgamation of services seems to be an obvious solution:
