Talks with CWU continue today says Post Office

Chief Exec 'committed to bringing strike to swift conclusion'

Isle of Man Post Office (IOMPO) has announced that talks with the Communication Workers Union (CWU) will continue today (Thurs13th) after failing to reach any agreement yesterday.

Chief Executive Simon Kneen says despite there being a genuine effort to find a solution to the dispute on both sides, talks yesterday were unable to find a framework in which to find a solution which was acceptable to either party. He suggests numerous opportunities to find a middle ground were explored but none were acceptable to both sides.

Mr Kneen adds, "We remain committed to working with the CWU to bring this strike to a swift conclusion and look forward to further talks today. We invited the industrial relations officer to join the talks and thank her for involvement.”

Customers are assured that contingency plans in place for strikes today and Friday. Regular updates will be available on IOMPO’s dedicated ‘Strike Action Updates’ web page, www.iompost.com/Strike and on IOMPO’s Facebook page ‘Isle of Man Post Office’. I
