The Isle of Man has one of the richest cultures for learning-centred education anywhere in the world.
That's the belief of educational guru Professor Guy Claxton who was on the Island yesterday (Wednesday) to address a large group of headteachers and school leaders.
Professor Claxton has developed a theory for learning called 'Building Learning Power' or BLP, which is mirrored by the Department of Education and Children's 'Essentials for Learning' curriculum, launched last year.
The theory is centred around the belief that the teaching of knowledge itself is no longer adequate to equip pupils to be successful in the modern world, and students need to be effective independent thinkers, questioners and life-long learners.
Professor Claxton says he was most impressed by what he saw during his visit:
Debate over future of Castletown Police Station
Campaigners react to delays to Assisted Dying Bill
Hospital main entrance remains closed following vehicle fire
Report calls for public to be more involved in Budget process
