Log jam at Energy from Waste plant
A large tree stump has jammed the system at the Energy from Waste Plant.
The Department of Infrastructure says it's working to resolve the problem and will store waste temporarily until the planned restart of the Incinerator tomorrow (3 June).
It's also promised more spot-checks to detect large items being delivered for disposal, as the plant's been forced to shut down on three separate occasions in the past seven days due to blockages.
Infrastructure Minister Ray Harmer says repairs can be lengthy and costly and is urging Islanders to only send 'conforming' waste to the site.
