Unemployment up again in October

Unemployment on the Island has risen again – the second quarterly rise in a row.

Figures from the Treasury’s economic affairs division shows at the end of October unemployment stood at 1,065.

That’s an unemployment rate of 2.4 per cent, with more than 750 men and 300 women out of work.

Catering, unskilled construction and retail staff are hardest hit – together they make up a third of the total jobless tally.
