Weather warning for Friday evening

Strong winds and rain ahead

The Met Office at Ronaldsway has issued a weather warning lasting from 11pm tonight until 3.30pm tomorrow.

Southern winds will become strong this evening, and - coupled with 'spring tides' - some large waves are expected to break over coastal roads and promenades near high tide tonight (01:07am).

That will bring some sea water and debris ashore.

The areas most at risk will be Ramsey and Laxey promenades, the central and northern end of Douglas promenade and Shore Road, Rushen.

Winds will continue to be strong tomorrow, but will turn to the south or south-west, with a further risk of waves coming over around high tide at 1.30pm.

Areas at risk will include the northern end of Douglas promenade, Castletown, Shore Road, and Fenella Beach in Peel.
