The previous record had stood since 1998
Isle of Man athlete Aimee Christian has broken a Manx athletics record which had previously stood for nearly 30 years.
Competing at the latest Northern League fixture at Trafford on Sunday (22 June), the Island competitor clocked a time of 63.7 seconds to set a new national record in the women's 400m hurdles.
It just eclipses the previous benchmark of 63.81 which was set by Cheryl Done in 1998.
Separately on the same day, fellow Island athlete Meghan Pilley became only the third woman in Isle of Man history - along with Danaa Callow and Angela Owen - to run the 100m in under 12 seconds.
Along with managing a time of 11.99 seconds over that distance at the Stratford Speed Grand Prix in London, Pilley also went on to set a personal best in the 200m at 25.02 seconds.
Both Christian and Pilley are due to be part of the Isle of Man athletics team for the 2025 Island Games taking place in Orkney from 12-18 July.
