Stuart Quayle replaces Karen Malone

Appointing an interim chief executive in the Department of Health and Social Care will give 'breathing space' whilst a permanent employee is sought.

That's the view of Lawrie Hooper - the minister in charge of the department:

Stuart Quayle – the current chief registrar – has taken up the role temporarily after the previous post holder Karen Malone resigned from government with immediate effect.

She'd only been in post since January.
