Nine to Five!

On this week's Spotlight, we go behind the scenes with the Douglas Choral Union as they prepare for their staging of 9-5 and award-winning portrait artist Svetlana Cameron speaks to Tanya Humbles about a rather high-profile recent commission.

If you’d like to come on the show and share something creative with us, drop me a line at Spotlight@manxradio.com and don’t forget you can listen again to the show as a podcast and on demand at manxradio.com

We begin the programme with the Douglas Choral Union as they prepare for the curtain to go up on 9 to 5 The Musical - we’re joined by the Choral Unions’ Chairman Tony Jones and by the wonderful Christine Sutcliffe who plays Violet, one of the show’s leading ladies!

Just before Christmas, Russian-born Manx portrait artist Svetlana Cameron presented her portrait of General Sir Timothy Granville-Chapman, the 31st Master Gunner St James’ Park at an event at the Royal Artillery Regiment home in Wiltshire.

She is the latest artist to be officially commissioned by the Royal Artillery Institution in an unbroken tradition of such portraits which has lasted since 1678. Tanya Humbles has the full story and you’ll find more of Svetlana’s incredible work on Facebook and at svetlanacameron.com.
