Deflation continues in October

Consumer Prices Index up 1% to -0.3%

The consumer prices index recorded deflation again in October, despite a 1% increase compared to the previous month.

The Island's inflation rate stood at -0.3% at the end of last month, up from -1.3% in September.

Figures published by the Manx government show recreation and culture are behind the change, while pet care has also seen an increase of 8.1% compared to this time last year.

Pork, driving lessons and domestic help have also seen price rises over the last 12 months according to the latest inflation report, while fuels, tea and clothing have all fallen.
