Taxing of cars for this purpose likely
It seems likely the Isle of Man will eventually tax cars purely on emissions in years to come.
So says the finance director at the Department of Infrastructure, as the Volkswagen emissions scandal in the United States rumbles on.
Ian Harris says the Isle of Man doesn't test for emissions itself, but relies on testing under the European standards.
The Island then gets copies of certificates for vehicles when they're registered here.
Mr Harris says the Island only started taxing on emissions a few years ago, but it's likely the change will be made:
Overnight sailings cancelled due to adverse weather
Rapist who 'terrorised' his victim told his sentence was 'entirely justified'
Complaints process for health system changed
Discovery of oiled birds 'makes a mockery of our biosphere status'
