Incident comes on the opening day of the King Scallop season
Lifeboat crews had to rescue an injured fisherman on a scallop dredger on the opening day of the King Scallop season.
Ramsey RNLI was called out just after 4pm yesterday after the man sustained injuries while fishing in an area being hit by force seven winds and a moderate to heavy sea swell.
The team brought the injured crewman onto the lifeboat and transported him to Ramsey Bay, where he was transferred to a waiting ambulance and taken to hospital just before 5pm.
Ramsey RNLI says the incident highlights the dangers faced by those in the scallop industry.
