Man walks free from court after breaching lockdown rules

He had already served double his sentence whilst on remand

A Douglas man's walked free from court after admitting breaching lockdown laws – because he'd already served more than twice his sentence while on remand.

Twenty-two-year-old Enzi Kimble, of Tynwald Street - also known as Samuel Anthony Walker - appeared before High Bailiff Jayne Hughes at Douglas Courthouse.

He pleaded guilty to breaching the regulations by not staying home on 9 March last year.

Prosecution advocate Barry Swain withdrew further charges of burglary, theft and carrying a knife in public.

Mr Swain told the hearing, police had been searching for Kimble in relation to a number of other allegations, but didn't find him at home.

Officers looked for him on the streets around Castle Mona Avenue, where he was living at the time, and found him outside with no good reason.

The Island was still in the first week of its third lockdown at the time.

Mrs Hughes jailed him for four weeks, but he walked free because he'd already served nine week on remand.
