MGP inquests opened

Inquests into the deaths of two Manx Grand Prix competitors have been opened and adjourned at Douglas courthouse.

Forty-seven-year-old Trevor Alan Norris Ferguson was killed in a crash at The Nook, on Bemahague Road in Onchan, on the second lap of the Supertwin race on Wednesday last week.

A post mortem determined he died from multiple injuries.

Meanwhile, in a separate inquiry, Coroner of Inquests John Needham heard Douglas rider Stephen Osborne died in accident and emergency at Noble's Hospital.

Mr Osborne, a 60-year-old computer analyst and programmer, had crashed at Alexander Drive, just before the Quarter Bridge roundabout, during the qualifying session on Friday, August 24.

The cause of death was given as multiple injuries.

Both inquests have been adjourned to a date to be fixed.
