Population growth strategy is 'putting the cart before the horse' says economist 

Update on economic strategy due in Tynwald

Plans to grow the Isle of Man’s population to 100,000 are flawed according to a former government economist.

The idea was unveiled as part of a new economic strategy by Chief Minister Alfred Cannan’s administration last year.

But John Webster has told Manx Radio aiming for growth at a time when essential services, and infrastructure, are already struggling to cope is not the right approach.

He says the policy amounts to putting the putting the cart before the horse:
