Company fined after health and safety breach

Sellafield nuclear site in Cumbria has been fined, after a worker there was contaminated with radiation.

Exposure to plutonium means the 51-year-old employee now has a higher risk of developing cancer.

The company, which is owned by the UK government, admitted to health and safety breaches.

It's been fined £380,000.

Sellafield is about 25 miles east of the Isle of Man, and has long been a cause of concern for groups like the Mannin Branch of the Celtic League and, indeed the Isle of Man Government

The Isle of Man Green Party has also taken up the cause, since its foundation in August 2016
