Football: Corinthians take commanding prem lead into weekend clashes

Division 2 leaders to be involved in important southern derby

Just five games into the 2026/27 Isle of Man football season, Corinthians will take a commanding Canada Life Men's Premier League into this weekend's latest local fixtures.

The Douglas-based side retain a 100 per cent start to the campaign and are currently six points clear of their nearest challengers ahead of a home encounter with St John's United on Saturday (26 September).

Elsewhere, Peel, St John's United and Union Mills are the teams sitting six points adrift of Corinthians currently going into tomorrow with Union Mills the only other top-flight side still boasting a perfect record with three wins from three.

St Mary's - who are also six points off the top - have a rest week this time around.

Meanwhile, a potentially poignant southern derby headlines Saturday's ties in Ardern & Druggan Ltd. Division 2 as league leaders, Castletown will start the day three points clear at the summit ahead of hosting Malew.

Separately, on Sunday (27 September), anther triple-header of Canada Life Women's League matches are planned - among the fixtures, Corinthians - who conceded ten against reigning champions, Peel last time out - take on Onchan.

Peel themselves head to face league newcomers, Douglas & District whilst Douglas Royal host Union Mills.
