MV Agusta at TT 2012

An iconic name will return to compete at TT 2012.

MV Agusta will be racing around the mountain course for the first time since the late Martin Finnegan rode for the Italian brand in 2007.

The Chesterfield-based World Performance Racing team will provide the new F3 and F4 machines although no rider has been named as yet.

MV Agusta has won 34 TT races and took 61 podiums between 1952 and 1972. The most famous champion is Giacomo Agostini with ten of those wins, but others include John Surtees, Carlo Ubbiali and Mike Hailwood.

In the sidecar class, it's been confirmed that leading British crew Scott Lawrie and James Neave will debut together next year.

The pair finished third in this year's British Formula One Championship. They have also enjoyed limited campaigns in the World Championship with two fourth places to date.

It will be a full debut at the TT for Scottish driver Lawrie but Neave has raced around the mountain course before.

The young 23-year-old passenger partnered Andy Laidlow in 2009 with a tenth place finish in the one race that year.
